My thanks to LeRoy Carlson for sending this information on one of the earliest Daffin families found in Maryland. This is an effort to show the basic line of descendants from George Daffin. As there are many in this family still living it was decided to respect their privacy and go down about six generations.
If you have an interest in this Daffin line or wish to share more information contact LeRoy Carlson

The Will of Colonel Joseph Daffin:

You can read this will in two versions...

Version 1 is a transcription in a handwritten style and

Version 2 is a typed transcription

The will mentions his nephews, nieces and late brother as well as the names of some his slaves and the lands he owned.

  The Maryland Archives:

George,Charles and Joseph Daffin were all mentioned in the Maryland Archive collections as both were prominent figures before, during and after the Revolutionary War. I'll be adding more transcriptions concerning these Daffins. In the meantime I have...

Letter No. 35   This is a letter sent to Joseph Daffin in 1776 from the Council of Safety, Annapolis giving him instruction in the recruitment of soldiers from the Eastern Shore to fight against the British

Thomas Sparrow's Memorial     This is a letter sent from Mr. Thomas Sparrow to the Council of Safety on Jan. 5, 1777 describing his ordeal on the Eastern Shore in recruiting soldiers to fight the King. The idea of a revolution was not a very popular idea on the Eastern Shore as Britain was their protection against attacks from Spain, who were trying to colonize farther north from Florida and France who were starting to move eastward from the Great Lakes region. Many were fearful of the idea of being independent of Britain and fending for themselves. This is an interesting account of what Mr. Sparrow went through and he mentions the help he received from then Capt. Joseph Daffin and others. He also names Tories who tried to harm him or disuade his recruitment.
